An amputation can affect a persons ability to take part in the same social activities, leisure pursuits or hobbies that they would have otherwise enjoyed. This may be due to practical reasons, such as not being able to participate in physical activities in the same manner as they could prior to their amputation.

Why do amputees have heart problems?

Results: Insulin resistance, psychological stress and patients deviant behaviors are prevalent in traumatic lower limb amputees. Each of these factors may have systemic consequences on the arterial system and may contribute to the increased cardiovascular morbidity in traumatic amputees.
